#WeLoveForests - a new weekly celebration of our woodlands
Living in the forest has not always been something I have enjoyed. When we first moved from the city I hated it, boredom at the lack of things to do, the lack of noise, the busy bustle of city life and not being able to just walk to a coffee shop.
Fast forward eight years and I love forest life, my outlook completely polarized. I love the amount of places waiting to be discovered, the lack of noise means I can hear a variety of birdsong, the mellow pace of life and being able to just pack a thermos of coffee and head outdoors.
Every Monday I'll be hosting the We Love Forests linky / prompt and I would love for you to join me if you too love forests. #WeLoveForests is a hashtag used by bloggers supporting the Forestry Commission and I'm thrilled that they are allowing me to use it and the logo for this linky.
Simply join in as an when with anything forest-based, a day out, a walk, a spot of Photocise, craft, activity and so on. If you tweet me @anniespratt the link to your post I'll then add your link to my main post that week so people joining in can all find each other.
This week I'm sharing photos from a fun afternoon spent in the woods opposite Matley Wood campsite. A simple walk can be made the stuff of legends with the addition of a £2.50 pack of face paints it seems! Ozzy became the self-titled King of the Forest and Kitty the 'Queen Wildling'. They ran, they wielded stick swords, they stripped off, decorated each other and made the ferns their realm. It was magical - and, for me, what childhood should be about, play and imagination.
