I have been able to find out so little about this book apart from what I read inside it. There’s no date in the book at all but it seems to be generally thought that it’s from around the 1920-1930 era. The book itself contains 12 colour plates and three hundred photos & illustrations.
It’s a charming book, the advice in it mainly still applicable now, the imagery very much of the time. An era where you could photograph a chimpanzee smoking a pipe and a raccoon kissing a small child. Fascinating to look through, oh to have been a photographer at that time, pre-Photoshop where the only way to get a shot of two rabbits sitting down for a cup of tea was indeed to sit them down and give them cups. Here’s some of my favourite images from the book.
