The Good Life Experience, 2014

This weekend I headed up to North Wales for The Good Life Experience, a new festival curated by Cerys Matthews. Huge thanks to the lovely Elizabeth from Margot & Barbara for suggesting that we go, and to lovely bloggers Cerys and Emma for joining us (not to mention Rachel whom we bumped in to) -always good to meet online friends in real life.

The weather was dry for the most part but cloudy but the bonfires and diy smores soon warmed us through nicely. Here's some photos from the daytime, it's not by any means a glimpse at everything from the day, just a few sights that caught my eye.

The wool was ever so soft to touch, I quite liked this top...

Less high octane than the axe throwing and archery was badge making, we made our own leaf badges.

Below: Pedlars were also in attendance, selling their wares - we all bought their smashing mason jars (which can be seen in the top photo). The jars were the centerpieces for all the tables in the festival, brimming with wildflowers they sold themselves to us straight away. They can also be bought over yonder.

I had an enjoyable day, meeting friends in person for the first time and walking about what really is a very different festival to the norms out there. The vibe was incredibly relaxed and mellow, a great pace for me.

Criticism wise, moving forwards I'd like to see the tents get a little bigger and more thought put into the layout and room surrounding the cookery demos. Whilst they were good, if even a small crowd formed it was quite hard to see - and hear, what was going on. That's not to say that I'd like to see it running on a huge scale, just staying true to it's intimate beginnings but with more room to view.

A promising first year for The Good Life Experience, I look forward to seeing it grow in 2015.

Don't just take my word for it...
