Nothing stands between two friends and a cup of coffee, not even light rain on the morning of visiting New Forest Lavender Farm. The lavender isn't in bloom yet there but the Nursery, garden and tearoom make it still worth a visit. Eager beavers amongst readers might recall I wrote about New Forest Lavender last July, when the lavender was in full flow.
The rain didn't dampen the spirits and the Garden and Nursery provided a colourful welcome.
New Forest Lavender Farm sell a wide range of David Austin roses, a perfect accompaniment for bumble-bee attracting lavender.
We headed to the tearoom as it opened and were the first ones in, that soon changed and it filled up fast, you can tell that this is a tearoom gem enjoyed by locals as well as New Forest visitors.
Ok, so I lost a bit of time obsessing with how lovely the jars of flowers on the tables looked... The tearoom also sells lavender goodies such as lavender shortbread, jars of Lavender Sugar, Lavender Fudge and Lavender Rice Pudding.
Last time I visited I described the tearooms as a bit of a 'cake-gasm' and I can confirm that is still true. There was a lovely selection of cakes and sweet tweets on sale in the tearoom (vanilla and lavender macaroon anyone?) but Amy and I both plumped for the Lavender Cream Tea (priced at £5.25 per person). Delicious and sat by the woodburner on a cosy sofa we didn't really want to leave!
