Whilst in Devon recently, staying at Amberstone Manor, my good chum Tanya and I had some free time to mooch around the village of Chumleigh. Recalling a shop from our walk through the dark village the evening before, a shop that appeared to sell bags (Tanya's weakness), we headed to 15 Fore Street and discovered Hilary Johnson Handmade.
Hilary was ever so welcoming and didn't seem at all phased by the appearance of two bloggers wielding cameras and twinkles in their eyes and we were soon discussing the benefits of Instagram for businesses and being shown around the shop. From leather key rings and crowns to a range of the most beautiful leather and carpet bags to custom commissions and beyond (oh these children's satchels!), it was a delightful shop to be in and Hilary was very hospitable indeed.
We bought a few little goodies and came away feeling happy - and Tanya craving this magic carpet traveler bag. I love it when these random encounters result in such a lovely discoveries.
