I was browsing through the Halloween recipes on JamieOliver.com when I found a recipe for Smush 'Ems. Now I hadn't heard of Smush-ins before, so for the uninitiated like me, think of a McFlurry, simply ice cream, all smushed up with sweeties. I've given this a Halloween twist...
- Tub of Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Me Up Ice-Cream - I chose this variety as it has choccy peanut butter within ( which I LOVE) and most importantly a core of raspberry jam, bringing a faux-blood element that is perfect for Halloween
- Assorted Halloween sweets - I chose Chewits Vampire Fangs, Haribo Spooky Mix and M&S eyeball and pumpkin chocolate balls, along with M&S gingerbread witches fingers.
Beyond easy, let the ice cream soften at room temp for 15 minutes then let the children add the sweets they fancy and smush away! We used a potato masher in a mixing bowl for our smushing - it was surprisingly therapeutic ;)
Joining in this week with the lovely Capture by Lucy's #SundayPropShop, getting inspiration for styling photos. It's been really interesting to think about what 'other bits' I have in the shots and I've learnt already, looking at these shots that I really should have moved the bowl and ice cream a bit further away from the board at the back to give the shot some depth. I'm looking forward to trying again next week and implementing that.
