There’s nothing quite like Bestivals Carnival parade, held on the Saturday afternoon of the festival each year. It’s an intense time stood amongst everyone as they shimmy by. As a photographer you have to be really aware not to hold up the flow so you are constantly concentrating, and scouting out for reactions in the crowd, smiling faces and the the people who go the extra mile for those armed with cameras. I was quite honestly adrenaline fueled for the 20 minutes it took for everyone to pass by – I bloody loved it.
Children, teens, men and women of all ages just having a good time, in amazing costumes (seriously they must take weeks to make). I know I banged on about the spirit of Bestival in my last photo post about it, but it’s a very special thing – and worth going to the festival for alone.
Camp Besitival earlier in the year had the family festival nailed and Bestival has the adult festival sewn up, wrapped in ribbons and festooned with gold glitter. It’s freaking awesome. I’ll never be without it.
