Adobe Shape App – create vectors easily

Yesterday I discovered the Adobe Shape app for iPhone and iPad (sorry it’s not available for android) and it’s been blowing my mind! The app lets you take or upload a photo and turns that photo into a vector drawing.

If you are au fait with vectors then it’s pretty darn cool as it gives a linocut style effect AND you can save it to Adobe Creative Cloud Libraries to use in Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC, new Illustrator Draw.

If you aren’t au fait with vectors and don’t use Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator then it’s still pretty darn cool as it gives a linocut style effect.

Using Adobe Shape App

Choose a photo and it shows you the outlines, click the tick…

And watch the vector drawing in progress!

Then save and it syncs to your Adobe Libraries for use in Illustrator etc…

I think they look jolly good finished off even without colour added in Illustrator!

  1. That’s amazing, I could spend hours playing with that (can imagine how it’s right up your street too!) . Here’s hoping they bring it out on android too! 🙂 x

  2. Waits for Android again I could see myself losing hours doing this. Therapy, yes? looks hopeful goes back to waiting

  4. I had an Adobe binge thanks to your post on Facebook. This is fab. I need to learn how to colour it.

So, if you do it to someone else’s photo/image…is there a copyright issue?
