68. RHS Wisley
Photos this week are from our trip recently to RHS Wisley. I've photos of the Orchids in the Glasshouse ready to roll tomorrow so today I'm sharing photos from inside and around the Alpine Display Houses, which hosts miniature beauties from around the World.
"The alpine house displays are always of the highest standard, as they are changed daily to ensure only the very best seasonal plants are on display."
Number 50, that means it's been almost a year that I've been enjoying your garden offerings on Thursdays and I'm still loving it! The staring at beautiful things, the tales, learning new things and inspiration. The inspiration side of things was materialised this week with my steps towards raised salad and herb beds taking another step forward, we visited out local reclamation yard yesterday and came back with 6 tanalised sleepers.
All I need to do now is a bit more digging and to order some top soil. I'm incredibly excited! I was thinking this time last week about how much time and energy it must take to grow and maintain gardens like Grandads and my mums, and that's spurred me on to spend 1 hour every day in the garden.
Most of this week has been dedicated to dandelions... the devil plants. Last year I had quite a few on my lawn but too lazy to remove them I simply mowed over them and as soon as the yellow heads had vanished they were gone from my mind - bad move. Now I estimate 25% of my lawns are dandelions and I've started the long-winded process of heading out with my small fork and lifting them out one by one. Beneath many of the plants are nests of baby ants. Just so we are clear, ants are my phobia in life, the thing I really hate, so this week has been a bit of a test of nerves!
Thanks to all who joined in last week, such great posts, it's hard to pick just a few to share and recommend: Walled gardens, little hands getting involved, wallflowers, the curled fern, this amazing hoop house in Tennessee, some allotment rules and a wonderful writing nook.
Each week I add my fave photos added to my Love Gardening Pinterest Board, which you can find here (and poke me if I'm not already following you on Pinterest!) Follow Love All Blogs .com's board Love Gardening on Pinterest.
