  1. LOL, nearly choked on my coffee reading this. My boys LOVE Dirt Girl World and Baby Jake. Not that bothered about the other one though, so I never realised the guy had a pervy name. Don’t you think children’s TV in general is disturbing though?

  3. I’ve seen this but hadn’t realised it had such a bizarre name. I find everything about her a bit scary – the strange voice as well as her using someone else’s mouth and eyes. Give me Mister Maker every time!

  5. Hee hee. It’s growing on me and my soon to be three year old loves it! She loves it so much that she cries when Baby Jake waves goodbye. Her 15 week old baby brother now has to endure being her ‘Magic Baby William’ – thank god he’s patient!

  7. The thing that makes me gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrind my teeth the most about the likes of Baby Jake, I Can Cook and Grandpa in my Pocket is the image of immaculate and clean homes that they portray – WTF ?! really ?! Oh yes I can relate to that -I don’t think !And thanks to Baby Jake Kitty is running about saying ‘gog-ee-gee-ya’! all the bloody time – at least the Teletubbies spoke crap versions of real words !
And as for In The Night Garden … sometimes Iggle Piggle is half the size of the Ninky Nonk and at other times 10 times larger – it messes with my head.

You can tell I fester over this sort of thing a LOT !

  9. I’m glad I’m not the only one who cringes at Baby Jake! I have a real thing about talking/dancing babies – it freaks me out and isn’t cute at all!! Every time I watch GIMP I look at my house and wonder what I’m doing wrong!

  11. pretty sure you are the female version of my husband. He gets angry and nearly throws shit at the tv when In the Night Garden is on and he wont shut up about the inconsistencies in size of said ninky nonk, pinky ponk and the characters. He is also freaked out by real mouths on cartoons. He also hates movies or ads with talking mouths superimposed on babies. Why would they do that? Have to agree with you both. it’s all just a bit weird. As for in the night garden… that’s just an acid trip surely.

  13. I got totally worked up over the sizing thing re: In The Night Garden, but I don’t mind the show in general. Dirt Girl World freaks me out too, and Frog spends all her time staring at the sceen in horror so I can assume she doesn’t much like it either!
That rabbit is on some serious drugs….. and I assume so are most people who make kids tv these days. Play School and Peppa Pig do it for me…. after that the tv gets a much need unplugging!

  15. I fecking hate Baby Jake AND DirtGirl World to the point where the TV gets turned off if they dare to show themselves when I am in the room.
Also, re In the night garden – is Iggle Piggle *supposed* to be a big blue dildo carrying a blanket or is he something else?

  17. I refuse to watch or more importantly let Mimi watch Dirt Girl – The scary interface and the name just says it all!!!! To be totally honest I think CBeebies is rubbish – I hate Iggle Piggle what is the attraction with this?!? They don’t even speak properly. No wonder there are speech problems in younger children! Mimi is allowed to watch Milkshake on Channel 5 only on the weekend (providing she has less than 5 black clouds for the week!). However I am getting fed up with this as well because of the bloody Lelli Kellie Adverts which promote free make-up. Get real kids of this age don’t need make up!
I am pleased that there are other people out there who feel the same way as me.

  19. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who hates Baby Jake! Although I must admit it makes me laugh when his brother calls him Baby Jakey – that means something completely different in Scotland.Squiglet also drives me mad – they’re not squiggle sticks; they’re crayons! Why on earth do children’s programmes try to teach children nonsense words?! Aargh!! And I completely agree with the point about free make up with Lelli Kellie shoes – they’re in primary school – why do they need make up? It makes me glad I have a little boy and don’t have to have that fight when he gets to school age.

  21. Im so glad im not the only one who finds this program disturbing. I have to confess though we love Granpa in my pocket its a fairly harmless program that my little one loves and the timing is perfect it can be put on just while im preparing dinner.
