Ah Sundays mornings are swiftly becoming my new favourite morning. It's really nice to sit down and look back over the photos of the last week and write this post.❤️
And what a bumper week it's been! We've visited Exbury not once but twice, the walled rose garden at Mottisfont and ventured out walking the hedgerows in the golden hour. I think I'll share some Exbury photos from my first trip of the week with Kitty for this weeks HDYGG, and write another post in the week for the roses at Mottisfont as they are always something a bit special.
The weather here has been hot, there's been the odd shower and the promise of thunder at present, but nevertheless hot. We've been out weeding our own gardens borders much to the delight of this years influx of birds who swiftly joined me to munch on the bugs and worms I was unearthing. I do love the bravado of the fledglings, generally far less scared to be around people. Our apple tree provides some lovely shade and cover for them to perch on before making the hop down to feed.
Talking of birds, we spotted two big hawks circling above the trees behind out house and what I can only assume a mother blackbird fighting them off, protecting her young maybe. She went for those much bugger hawks like a bird possessed when they got too close to the trees (and I assume her nest). After a tense 10 minutes (where I actually considered getting out the drone to scare the hawks off myself) the mother blackbird succeeded and the hawks flew away, presumably thinking that it was not worth the bother. Much to my whoops and cheers from below!
The thing I love about Exbury Gardens is that they are really large, I can visit a couple of times a week and walk round different parts each time. Oh yes, and the nursery shop, I covet it all 🙈
Kitty and I wish you a lovely weekend! With half term next week we'll be off exploring more gardens. 😃
