After a weekend at Camp Bestival we are all feeling jaded. Foggy heads, sun-burnt noses and aching feet. This afternoon Kitty and I went for a walk at Rans Wood in the New Forest, just for half hour, long enough to clear our heads and reconnect ourselves with the forest but not so long that we felt any more tired.
Butterflies danced around our feet, footsteps forward brought squeals of delight as dozens of them fluttered off from clumps of heather. A foal feeding from his mother, hand holding, photo taking and talk of the future. Kitty tells me that she want to be explore the world digging and hunting for dinosaur bones.
“When I am a grown up I will buy a cottage and get married and my husband will be a dinosaur bone hunter too. We will have one room to display the collections of our finds and another room to be our lab – because we will also be scientists”
The dancing butterflies and Kitty’s dreams and aspirations filled me with joy, lifting my tired spirits. Anything is possible isn’t it?
