SLPY - The wearable sleeping bag
It's no secret that I love camping outdoors, from forests to festivals. It might be a 'getting older' thing but these days I'm less of a 'wang everything we might possibly need in every eventuality in the car' and more of a 'only wang what we need in the car' kind of gal.
The one bug bear I have about camping, especially festival camping, is the carrying 'the family stuff' from the car to the campsite. Maybe it's having younger children who can't carry much themselves but I'm less 'excited camping funster' and more 'beast of burden'. Anything that makes life easier when it comes to camping is fine by me. Oh, and warmer, when you are camping snug is the name of the game.
I was asked if I might like to try out a Sleepy wearble sleeping bag from SLPY and was intrigued to say the least, the concept of walking about in a sleeping bag appealed to both the practical and slightly lazy side of me. As an aside, we currently use a double sleeping bag. If you ever find yourself in an outdoor camping store looking lovingly into the eyes of the one you love, thinking about how romantic sharing a big sleeping bag might be, slap yourself repeatedly in the face. Double sleeping bags are the devil apart from being hard to re-pack into the little carry bag they are only practical if you have a deep phsycic connection to your other half and can preempt every roll over they might use overnight. Anyway, I digress, back to the Sleepy...
The Sleepy is a sleeping bag that you can unzip the arms and leg area on, meaning not only can you sleep in it, you can walk about in it. The Sleepy also boasts a Zipcinch system which enables you to unzip the bottom of the bag, cinch it up to your waist and wear it like a long coat. This makes it perfect for the early morning cup of coffee making when camping, you know the first-thing-in-the-morning when you really want to go and make a cuppa but don't want to leave the snug confines of your sleeping bag?
The Sleepy is easy to get on and off, lightweight yet warm and comfy to wear. The two zip pockets are a nice addition, and would make mobile phone / wallet access easy. We found the Sleepy easy to roll back into it's carry bag and the carry bag itself has a good quality carry handle.
SLPY wearable sleeping bags come in a range of colours and there's also a kids range (see below). I love the idea of being able to get Kitty and Ozzy bright SLPY's for camping, so they could wander off and explore as all inquisitive children do, but with the added bonus of being able to spot their bright bag from a distance.
