What does your bookcase say about you? Mary from Keynko has a lovely little meme on the go asking just that.Seeing I declared my love for printed books vs demonic kindle a couple of days ago it’s the perfect time to get all crazy-ass Lloyd Grossman and ask ‘Who would read from a bookcase like this?’
Well let me tell you.
- I am a hedonistic child punisher. Obviously I’m really not one but I found the copy of ‘Toddler Taming‘ next on the shelf to Howard Marks Dope Stories. It’s not looking good so far is it?
- I am a bit emo. I love Murakami and Mishima. In fairness I loved these books more when I was single and all angst-ridden.
- I am a pervert. No I’m not. Those books are Papasaurus’s and were a Christmas present from me. And besides naked photography is art. Yes, art.
- I love a good book cover. They rock my world. Shove that up your arse kindle.
- I need to tidy up. Is that biro and bit of duplo on the floor there?
And to end – here are few of my favourite things *sniffs book*

I'm Annie and I live in the depths of the New Forest. Mother to many, wife to one, blogger, creative type, lover of real books and a bit of a lush.

I would suggest it demonstrates you’re well read.

I’m loving the porno and didn’t have you down as a Curious Dog kind of gal.
Super jealous of you’ve book shelves.
No I won’t be reading your toddler taming – he shall remain a beast lol.

Let the feral children run free whilst we read a good book I say!

PS. Those shelves are just cheapy white IKEA Billy bookshelves bolted together in a row – think they cost about £100 in all

Mammasaurus recently posted..What does my bookcase say about me?
Hahaha. We also have an impressive row of Billy bookshelves – only we went for red and blue because they were even cheaper that week!
Glad to see your collections is as obscure and eclectic as mine is! And thanks for joining in! x

Twas a pleasure – how could I not join in ?! *grins*

I LOVE books and was given a Kindle fire as a xmas pressie…i LOVE that too…but can definitely see myself still buying the odd book in the future. I wish we had a book case like yours. unfortunately ours is a bit all over the shop and as well as beautiful looking books (one reason why i will buy a book) it also holds pictures, board games, dvd’s and catalogues…hence the go in me to de-bloody-clutter!
Mascara and Mud recently posted..…boys are vile!…
I must admit I guard ours with military precision – one sticky finger goes near those books and I go ape-shizzle. Well sort of. I nag the kids truth be told
I too have been going through a de-clutter of late which has involved chucking out lots of things that break the 3 year rule – if it hasn’t been used in the past 3 years chances are I don’t need it! That doesn’t apply to books though – that would be insanity!
Mammasaurus recently posted..What does my bookcase say about me?
This is a great idea and made me happliy chuckle! We actually have a lot of the same books with the exact same covers rather strangely from the pictures! Therefore I will say it must mean you are beautiful, wonderful, intelligent woman who dresses well as I am sure that is what my books say about me (well to my face, they are rather bitchy behind my back rather like the bathroom, I presume they are in cahoots …) I no likey the kindle! My partners in the army and even he insists on me posting books over to him in the desert rather than buying the dreaded kindle..plus it’s always good to show some love for the published word.
Exactly – it’s part of our heritage, I’m all for progress but some things cannot be improved on!
Mammasaurus recently posted..What does my bookcase say about me?
Loving your book collection – really varied. That’s a big book collection you have! X.

Mammasaurus recently posted..What does my bookcase say about me?
Loving your bookcase wish mine looked as neat as yours, our books are all different sizes and very messy although it is very muched loved and used

Like your selection of books too! I think I may need to get the ‘Taming toddlers’ book x

Tame the beasts I say! All joking aside it’s an older book but actually a really good one to read! And those books aren’t neat because I’m some sort of domestic diva – they only fit on certain shelves!
Mammasaurus recently posted..What does my bookcase say about me?
I think it suggests you’re well read and like a bit of variety x

I think people’s book shelves are very revealing, but beware the person who doesn’t have a book shelf that is even more revealing and disturbing. I think you sound well rounded in a nobly sort of way.
I’m was gifted for Christmas a book called Howards End is on the Landing. No not one to go with your porno but a year spent reading only the books Susan Hill has in her house. So far quite interesting and easy to dip in and out of. x

Love the post – hope I can find some time to join in the meme too! Bookshelves are inducing neatness envy. I can’t see myself reading from a Kindle either any time soon – don’t like the lack of a back cover myself and you just can’t beat the smell and feel of a real book!
Mayfair Mum recently posted..What did the kids really want for Christmas?
I was surprised at the Curious Dog too! We must swap books sometime. Ooh I know – a virtual book club – with a twist, obvs

Love that idea! Match people up and they send each other a random book to read!
Love it but I am filled with dread at the idea that – gasp – it might not be alphabetised and categorised by publisher…
Sally recently posted..Dear Movie Fan…
If only I had the room to fit *that* many books in my house! Sadly I’ve had to trade some in for lack of space (although I sneaked some of the bad boys under the bed). I do use a kindle for the odd book now and then, but I must admit that it really doesn’t compare to flicking through the pages of a real book.
