TeamHonk Snowdon Challenge – Job done!

Well we did it! Snowdon is officially TeamHonk’s biatch (or possibly I think our legs are Snowdons biatch). We came, we saw, we conquered, we sipped the gin and raised over £5,000 (so far)  in the process.  It’s a great feeling indeed. Although I thought I wasn’t going to be able to climb with them I found that I felt much better on the day so dosed myself up and set off with them ‘just for the first bit’ under the understanding that I turned round after the first hour or so. I think the brownies softened them up a bit though and  I joined them till the end. It was tough work for a group of very mixed abilities but we got on really well and it was a joy to be with such wonderful folk.

Above: We squirreled yummy brownies into our bags which had been kindly sent from Gower Cottage Brownies to keep us going – they were awesomeness just when we needed it!

Mummy Barrow playing mummy

Tanya (Mummy Barrow) lives up to her name and plays mummy – making sure that everyone has brownies, taking messages to text on to loved ones, taking photos and slipping me a couple of tins of gin. For medicinal purposes naturally. Left to right: Kim Fleming who came with her son and Henry the hoover ( I kid you not), Kate (Kate Takes 5), Tanya, Marit and Al (kind hearted guides) and Gemma (Hello it’s Gemma).

Now that’s over can I just say ‘OH MY FREAKING WORD MY LEGS ARE KILLING ME. KILLING ME I SAY!’ *hobbles off to run another hot bath*

Someone pass me a gin. I am begging you…

Huge thanks to:

Everyone who took part, everyone who sponsored us, Clare Balding for all the smashing re-tweets (go #TeamBalders!).

To Gower Cottage Brownies for making the whole thing more enjoyable through gooey scrumptiousness

To Becky and everyone at Who Made Your Pants? for the amazing pants. We had many compliments on the way up Snowdon on our knickers thank to you!

To Hi-Tec for sending us some fabulous merino wool walking socks – and I haven’t one single blister – not bad for someone who hadn’t even worn her new walking boots ey?

To the Youth Hostel Association for providing us with free meals and packed lunches (peanut butter and banana sarnies = yummo) – hot food was most welcomed indeed!

And of course it’s never too late to sponsor - http://my.rednoseday.com/sponsor/TeamHonkSnowdonChallenge - thank you!
