I am about to shatter a myth so you may want to plonk your bottom down…I don’t actually hang upside down in the corner of a room blogging throughout the night.
At worst it’s a semi-propped-on-a-desk affair until around 3 am. Something that I’m discovering more and more bloggers and work form home parents are doing is starting their ‘working day’ in the evenings, once their children are in bed. Generally we fit our life in around our families, work commitments (and in my case EastEnders) but this often leads to not getting a decent nights sleep.
Some factoids I found out this week:
- Sleeping on my back makes me ‘unusual’ , which I am hoping doesn’t equate to being a freak of nature.
- Eating bananas can make you sleepy. I have made a mental note not to yam nanas of an evening where blogging is on the agenda.
- If you are told not to drink alcohol you can totally get away with buying copious quantities of gin in a tin – so long as you photograph a sachet of Ovaltine atop.
I love The Smiths, Morrisey is, well was, a dreamboat. He sang ‘Some girls are bigger than others’ and I now sing ‘Some beds are comfier than others’. This is the part of the post where you go “hang on Saurus, is this some sort of review post you are luring me in to?’. Guilty as charged. But don’t leave, hang around, it’ll be worth it in knowledge gained. You can trust me – I’m a doctor. Ok so I’m not a doctor but I did half complete a Nursing degree so technically I am sort of. Errr yes.
So you know when you go off on a blogger event in ‘The Big Smoke’? If you want a really reasonably priced hotel, with free Wi-Fi, proper black out blinds and an AMAZING bed then check out the Ibis, Shepherds Bush. I was at the new Ibis in Shepherds Bush this week with some other bloggers attending a ‘sleep’ event.
Man, the beds are actually called ‘Sweet Beds’. Sweet. Duuuuuuuude. Designed for comfort they are ‘da bomb’. They not only feature a specially designed mattress but also feature a 7 cm topper. I slept so soundly – and this comes from me, a lady who never sleeps well anywhere away from home.
If you book in advance a double or twin room will cost around the £70 mark and the price for a room is the same if you are travelling solo or as a couple so for a couple of bloggers travelling together it’s an epic option for a twin room. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, freeview TV and FREE WI-FI *yay*. The hotel has also committed to planting a tree of every 5 towels re-used.
I attended an event at Ibis, Shepherds Bush this week and was shown around the hotel by the Manager and attended a great sleep advice session from Sammy Margo, sleep expert. I’ll be writing more about Sammy’s advice over on Minisaurus next week. Many thanks to the team at iCrossing for a creative and fun event – especially Kelly and Jeremy.

I'm Annie and I live in the depths of the New Forest. Mother to many, wife to one, blogger, creative type, lover of real books and a bit of a lush.

Did we attend the same event?
Now what is that supposed to mean missy?!
I believe you still hang upside down even though you have publicly denied it, either way, this sounds like a lovely place to stay. I went to a bloggers event this past weekend, and chose the eco-room, but to my surprise they hadn’t changed the sheets from the last guest. I got the night free!
