Here is something that really, really. REALLY gets to me. As Simon Cowell would say “150%” RAGE. From QuickQuid – a short term loan lender….
I have just received this:
Subject Title: We need your blogs help to support our Kiva Team
My name is David, and I work on behalf of the marketing team at QuickQuid, a short-term lender based in the UK. As part of our current company-wide social initiative, we have aligned with Kiva.org to help support entrepreneurs by providing personal loans and help alleviate poverty around the globe.
We have created the attached badges to encourage others to join our QuickQuid Kiva team to raise awareness of the different missions and visions of these global entrepreneurs. We’re aiming to lend over $5,000 by the end August, and we would love to have Mammasaurus help promote our cause by placing one of the attached badges on your site. If you are interested in learning more or helping our quickly-growing Kiva Team, I’d love to hear from you!
Now I have outed some pretty crap, mis-informed PR / SEO emails in my brief blogging time but this one takes the biscuit.
So dear readers, would I like to add a badge to my sidebar that yes, potentially may help someone somewhere IF (and that’s a CAPS LOCK moment right there) YOU take out a short term loan at Representative 1734% APR.
One day I would like to work with a decent company on something fantastic and I know that posting this I may be tarring myself with a ‘this blogger is a PR’s nightmare’ brush, and I am not one to swear flippantly or with anger but seriously QuickQuid BUGGER OFF.
I am not going to promote such short term loans for anything, anytime. EVER. There are spirals of financial crapola that folk can get into from these sort of ‘Hey fancy borrowing £500 TODAY!’ type schemes and if you think that I would promote that to fellow parents you can think again.
And breathe Saurus…and breeeeeathe.
