Step 1: Open a new file in Photoshop and type your font.

Step 2: Open the image that you want to fill the text with.

Step 3: With the image in view, Select all and Copy. If using Windows you can use the shortcut Ctrl and A to select all and the Ctrl and C to copy. If using a Mac, Command and A to select all and Command and C to copy. Now click on to your text image from Step 1 and paste, Ctrl and V (or Command and V if using a Mac). This plonks the patterned image on top of the text, like so.

Step 4: From the top Menu select Layer and then select Create Clipping Mask from the drop down, like so...
