Top: Kitty plays monsters in a den that we found in the woods. Watching her running free through the woods with Ozzy talking of magic foxes and talking badgers has been a beautiful thing – I found that stepping back and taking photos from afar really brought out their imaginative side! Bubble and Squeak by Clara Vulliamy

The beautiful Clara Vulliamy has a new book out, a collaboration with Jame Mayhew – Bubble and Squeak! Now it’s no secret that I heart Clara, she’s a warm and caring lady and a truly brilliant author and illustrator and I can hand on heart say that Bubble and Squeak is another superbly colourful offering of reading joy. It’s a book that not only children will like to read or bed read but also one that grown ups will enjoy reading.

The book tells the tale of Bubble, a super star Circus act, travelling far and wide performing ‘The Pyramid of Peril’ (see above right image), balancing on a a pyramid of people and pom pom holding dogs with just a bouquet of flowers to help her balance. Some days you wake up and your head feels awash with a disquieting sense of apprehension, yesterday was one of those days for me. A combination of a lingering cold teamed with worry over Papasaurus’s health and Ozzy’s front tooth extraction next week had snowballed up, making me a little bundle of stressy worry. ‘Yummy’ : A free customisation of ElmaStudio’s Pohutukawa premium WordPress theme

Today I have a theme tweak for ElmaStudio’s Pohutukawa WordPress theme. This theme is a premium theme but at only $12, that’s around £7, it’s a bargain. If you buy all the 14 themes in ElmaStudios bundle, which I have, it comes to just $36, around £23. Which is most surely not to be sniffed at.

Here I am going to show you how to customize ElmaStudio’s Pohutukawa Premium WordPress theme for any blog in 6 easy steps, to give your blog a clean and stylish look.

to see this theme in action please visit the BakeYummy live site (opens in new tab / window)

'Yummy' customisation of ElmaStudio's Pohutukawa WordPress theme by Mammasaurus

***The first thing to do, before you start is, as with installing any new theme, make a copy of the widgets from your sidebar and their order. Occasionally, not always, when switching a theme widgets can be lost or move to ‘inactive widgets’. The easiest way to copy your widgets is to open a generic word editor, I used Windows Notepad, and copy and paste the code from each widget in order and then Save.

It’s always recommended to make a backup of your blog before changing any theme – you can read how to back up your blog here. To avoid confusion to readers on your blog whilst tweaking the theme show below I recommend that you go to Dashboard > Plugins > Add New and search, install and activate WP Maintenance Mode.*** [Read more...]
