National Trust Charlecote Park

victorian home in rural warwick

Charlecote Park is a Victorian home set in rural Warwickshire that’s been the Lucy family home for over 900 years. A visit to the house, courtyard, gardens and parkland, where an historic herd of Jacob sheep and fallow deer roam freely, makes for a lovely day out.

Highlights

The working kitchen.

Was a complete joy to see. Volunteers in costume were cooking recipes from period cookbooks as visitors walked around. It gave an amazing feel for life in an Victorian kitchen.

Views from the gardens.

Stunning views across the River Avon and the beautifully landscaped gardens are a treat. There’s plenty of room for picnics for families and little ones to enjoy.

A beautiful Victorian home.

The gardens and parkland are lovely but the home itself was the best part of my visit. Grand and impressive yet homely and welcoming. Possibly my dream home!
