Make your own roll on deodorant

Make your own roll on deodorant

You will need:

1 old, empty  roll on ‘ball’ deodorant, opened up, washed out and dried

40g Bicarbonate of Soda

20 drops of essential oils, I chose 10 drops of Tea tree oil and 10 drops of Lavender oil

Small bowl and a something to mix with, I used and old teaspoon.

To make it:

Pop the 40g of bicarb into a bowl and add the oil. Mix well – initially it goes a bit clumpy but keep mixing and soon it’ll be a sand consistency.

Add the mix to the opened up roll on deodorant case and then snap the top back on it.

Use at will!

Please note: Bicarb may not suit very sensitive skins for prolonged use

I really don’t get along with conventional deodorant at all so I might give this a go and see if I fare any better. I have some rose oil left over from my homemade bath bombs too.

Oooh sounds awesome, can’t wait to hear how it turns out!

For years we’ve been trying to cut out nasties like parabens etc and my in-laws all thought we were just “mad hippies” and yet now they keep trying to convince us to be more natural!! Have never made my own stuff, looks complicated, so will be interested to know how easy (or hard) it is to make :)

I’ve been using homemade deodorant for about a year now … it really works … no nasties … smells or chemicals! I use baking soda mixed with coconut oil … I found the baking soda on its own can be a little irritating after a while especially after hair removal but combined with coconut oil it works great … Bee x

Now I;m thinking no no no! I have really sensitive skin and I’ve found one product that doesn’t bring me out in rashes and I’m sticking to it.

Would be interested to see if it really does work. Are you out and about or just staying at home in case it doesn’t work? lol

I have super sensitive skin and also very bizarrely have only ever found one deodorant that works for me so this is a bit of a leap of faith.

I’ll be all over the place in the next few days, on a train tomorrow and London on Monday for an important meeting so by Tuesday I think I’ll know for sure!

I don’t use deodorant unless I’m going to the docs or dentist etc, then I wash off asap, I use bicarb with essential oil if anything and no I don’t smell :) Deodorant blocks your pores so not good. I read an article years ago about lymph glands etc enough to make me not use it ! I think we’d all be shocked by just how many toxins we’re absorbing through creams, etc. Looking forward to your follow up.

Hmmmm intriguing, I am a sweaty betty so I don’t know if this would work for me but I’m going to try and break into my old roll-on as I’ve never done that before and I’m just interested to see what’s in there (why has this never occurred to me before?)
