A couple of months ago I shared news (here) of Black Fox Woodland Produce, a local company set up by my husbands cousin and his father. Recently I designed them a website (take a peek here) and at the weekend we popped along to grab some bags of charcoal to photograph ready to be added to the site and to see how the coppicing is coming along.
I find the whole managing-a-woodland-thing fascinating. At first glance it seems brutal, stripping back trees, but then you realise that it's all about managing the woodland so that it serves you sustainably over the years, ensuring new growth and a healthy woodland.
Ozzy loved it - and he made a new friend, Alfie. Oscar is going through a real 'dog' phase at the moment. Stroking dogs that are left tied up at the school gates whilst the owners collect their children, waving at dogs from the car and the tell-tale sign that he's brewing up to ask us if we can get one ourselves - "Mummy, how many years do guinea pigs live for?"
Poor Nibbles, Crunch and Super Pig.
Enjoying the outdoors and spending time with your family - is there anything better*?
