The Sunday Meme - Mammywoos Music as Therapy

This week I've been tagged by the multiple-sh mummy-tastic Multiple Mummy to have a bash at Mammywoo's Music as Therapy meme, and in a nutshell I need to give 3 beautiful songs,3 different bands and 3 sets of lyrics that touch me. Now I'm a bit of a muso it has to be said and so picking just 3 for each is going to take some thinking power.

3 beautiful songs...

I'll kick off with the song I walked into getting married to Papasaurus - The Man in Me by Bob Dylan. Papasaurus loves Bob Dylan and I love the Big Leibowski - win win!

and now onto something different ... beautiful? yes ... loud ? Oh indeed! I was down the front when they performed at Reading last year getting moshed to near death with my teenage daughter...and because he is the fittest man on earth.

And finally something to chill out to...Boards of Canada

Hmmm 3 different bands...

Firstly a new-ish but AMAZING band to watch for the future- Django Django

The Klaxons - because Papasaurus travelled over Europe with Jamie from The Klaxons back in their late teenage years and I generally love them...

The Blood Arm !

and now for the hard part - 3 sets of lyrics that touch me... 1. The Flaming Lips - Do You Realize??- a whole amzing experience live, this track makes me cry nearly every time I hear it - just for these lyrics:

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face Do You Realize - we're floating in space - Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know You realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - Oh - Oh - Oh Do You Realize - that everyone you know Someday will die -

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know You realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face Do You Realize

2.The Beatles - When I'm sixty-four, because deep down there's a romantic bit of me dying to get out!

Send me a postcard, drop me a line, Stating point of view. Indicate precisely what you mean to say Yours sincerely, Wasting Away.

Give me your answer, fill in a form Mine for evermore Will you still need me, will you still feed me, When I'm sixty-four?

3. The Smiths - That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore. When I've been depressed in my life have I turned to Wigfield or Shabba Ranks to jolly me up? Nope. I have wallowed in self pity and listened to The Smiths. When I left my older six children and started a new life my family thought I was 'bored with being a mum' and 'off to live the single life and have fun'. I had no support but I understand that they could not have possibly comprehended the enormity of the events leading up to this decision in my life. Rape, domestic violence, stalking and raising 6 children totally alone is not an easy thing to get ones head around. This song in particular was literally the soundtrack to a number of failed suicide attempts and numerous episodes of self harming. So I'm going out on an unexpected low with this

But that joke isn't funny anymore It's too close to home And it's too near the bone It's too close to home And it's too near the bone More than you'll ever know ...

I've seen this happen in other people's Lives Oh ... And now it's happening in mine
