I love the look of Festival No. 6

Festival no. 6 2013I love festivals and it’s that time of year when peoples attention turns to what’s on and who’s playing where. This year we’ve spied a newer festival that is ticking many boxes for us – Festival No. 6. Both Papasaurus and I are in agreement – we want to go… Just look…*sigh*

Festival no. 6 2013

Held mid-September in Potmerion, Wales, this multi-award winning festival boasts not just music but a whole host of arts and culture too, from the likes of John Cooper Clarke to the frankly awesome Vagenda, whom I’ve seen speak before, lovely ladies they are too. Yeah you heard me, multi-award winning: Best New Festival at the UK Festival Awards and Best Small Festival in a public poll at the NME Awards.

Music at a festival is important to us, we’re closet musos and a duff line up is always a no-no (hence why we only did the one day at the Isle of Wight festival this year). Festival No. 6 is delivering a great line up, this year, my personal favourites being Primal Scream,Everything Everything, The Manics, I Am Kloot, Tricky, AlunaGeorge and best of all Melt Yourself Down who are just BRILLIANT live  . Also looking forward to Slow Club , who we first saw at the Icelandic Airwaves Festival on our honeymoon on 2007, Clinic and  Jagwar Ma.

The festival offers a number of packages from ticket and camping to boutique camping to accommodation in the village and how good Portmerion sounds for a festival venue…

“Portmeirion is a unique and magical site, offering nature and eccentricity in equal measures. It perfectly reflects our vision of an intimate boutique music and arts festival, sculpted for those who enjoy life’s finer things. A festival which is a scene but not a herd, which explores and embraces individual expression and offers you the chance to put reality on hold for a few days. Lose yourself in your own fairytale in the iconic setting where ‘The Prisoner’ was filmed.” – Festivalnumber6.com

I LOVE Port Merion anyway, so a festival there would be brilliant. Have friends who went last year and raved about it. As an aside, I met John Cooper Clark on a ferry once, he wrote us a poem, which we were all too drunk to remember the next day. Bugger.

Festival or not this place looks awesome. I just want to be sitting drinking beer on that beach – in the sunshine preferably. I love the idea of the festival but I suspect we’ll have to wait until POD is a bit bigger or rope in the relies for babysitting duties :)

I love the look of Festival No 6 too!! This photo is fabulous.
Portmeirion is such a great place, I have been there several times and stayed in the hotel once and another time in one of the cottages. I have not been in ages and would love to go back. I cannot make the Festival though, sadly.
Funnily enough I wrote this week a post about “What To Wear To A Rock Concert”, which applies to festivals too!! ;)
