My bushy mane, 25 pairs of scissors, 25 minutes. It’s all getting lopped off on Friday 15th March to raise money for Red Nose Day. Eeeep!
It seemed such a good idea at the time, before TeamHonk visited Ghana whilst we were discussing potential fundraising ideas. Fast forward 3 weeks and it seems, well, a little chilly outside. I’ve been wearing a hat for goodness sake -with my big hair – to be honest the thought of not having that extra insulation for my brain is a tad scary. Then of course there’s the fact that I’ll look fricking ridiculous. This isn’t a neat head shave, this is a scissor hack – I suspect by MummyBarrow after a few tins of Pimms… maybe Steph from I’m Counting UFO’s might like to assist, after all she knows a whole lotta stuff about hair dye, maybe she’s a closet hairdressing guru. And I have grey hairs – they are going to look waaaaaay more obvious with short hair aren’t they? Ok, it’s official I am vain and crapping myself.
But I can’t not do it. I think back to the good work that we saw first hand in Accra with Comic Relief and I want to fundraise, I want to push myself to do something that although not that bad in the scheme of things that I will find genuinely hard to do. I’m not going to patronise and speak of how I know how important the work Red Nose Day do, you know that, chances are you have seen the positive images lately. Good work. Happy images that make you feel good to be helping. I’ve seen it, it’s powerful seeing those photos and indescribable how inspiring to be there, take this image for example…
Positive isn’t it? Here’s the bit you haven’t seen though – the view from the first floor window of that school…
Just a couple of minutes walk from the school…

The smoke you can see there is coming from men burning cables to get the precious metal inside to sell. This slum is a legal – and illegal dumping ground for e-waste – old computers, fridges and so on. This smoke is toxic. I’m not going to bang on about how terrible this is, you only have to look at the photos. So yes, I’m a bit daft losing my locks but I believe in the good work Comic Relief do and so actually in the grand scheme of things, it’s the least I can do.
If you would like to sponsor my big chop you can do so here> http://my.rednoseday.com/sponsor/Mammasaurus
Thank you x

I am so glad I swerved this bullet when we first talked about it. How “we could shave our heads” became you doing it.
My cycle ride is a walk in the park compared to this beauty.
But I cannot wait to get going on your hair. I will be checking for nits.
And are we doing it on a Google Hangout? A tenner to join?
I am sure there’ll be a hangout. And gin – tell me there’ll be gin!

Epic! You legend. Must admit – the teens I work with always do a lot for comic relief, and I make it a blanket rule to only sponsor them, as i support other charities all year round and otherwise I’d be broke! But I’m totally blown away by this gesture – as a fellow glasses wearing, greying red head, I salute you, and will be donating extra this year for this. Big up ya self xxx
Cheers dears! There are so many people doing things that it’s really hard supporting everyone isn’t it?

Oh brave lady..but for a brilliant cause. I was born in Africa so looking at your pictures evoke sensory memories for me. That smell of the continent that hits you as you step foot on it’s soil. Amazing place, amazing people who definitely deserve lots of lovely support. I pat you on the back or maybe on your elfin cropped head. xx

More like ‘whatever you do NOT AN ANNIE!’
I think it is wonderful that you are having your beautiful red locks chopped for charity. I admire you for it, mainly because there is no way I could have my red hair chopped, it would come back grey. I am very vain when it comes to my hair.
