And a video shot on Monday evening at the event that I attended:

Brilliant vlog and very thought provoking, you made me cry instead, really well done for putting yourself out there to give these girls a choice and chance to get education, support and change! Thank you, its really made me think.
Thanks Jo that’s wonderful to hear. I feared it was far to gushy and emo x
Of course I signed. And I’ve scheduled my tweets for tomorrow
Well done
Thanks Helen x
I clicked on the link before the vlog even ended (in a new tab i might add
), very heart felt post, it’s too easy to forget the struggles other people have, and forget how lucky we are over in this country. I have cousins similar ages to the girls in the story and could never imagine a girl of any age having to go through such physical and emotional pain which can be prevented. x
Thanks Danielle, you are a star x
I posted on this yesterday.
I have a special interest in this in my new role as an advocate for all things premature related I have learnt that in the developing world one of the biggest causes of premature birth is having babies too young. A 12 year old is not built to sustain a full term pregnancy. The next big cause is poor spacing of pregnancies. Contraception + sound education can change this. In the developiing world when we talk of premature babies, we’re talking 32+ weekers, babies here who would have a short tour of duty in NICU, go home, and have no further problems, in the developing world often do not survive.
Contraception is key to changing this.
Exactly Kylie, contraception is about saving lives, let’s hope something positive comes from the summit today.
Incredibly moving and powerful vlog Annie – you had me in tears. The very depth of the ignorance around basic bodily functions like menstruation just astounds me. It’s terrifying.
It’s just frightening isn’t it? These things aren’t the nicest when you know what’s happening let alone when you don’t.
I remember running into my mums bedroom in tears when I started my first period, it’s a emotional thing.
Added a piece to the blog. Hope it drums up a few extra tweets x
Oh my thank you Jo, I read your piece, great stuff.
Again, thanks x
I just wanted to hug you ! I’d signed it before you’d finished speaking and will attempt the tweet thing in the morning!
Thank you missus and sorry I didn’t ring yesterday, twas an emotional old day!
Awww I’ve got a lump in my throat now ! Blogged here : http://madhousefamilyreviews.blogspot.com/2012/07/add-your-voice-to-givegirlspower-at.html and will be back to tweet later xx
