A glimpse into my vintage heaven

A few photos from my mothers house which I took at the weekend. The first three are from my mums kitchen. For me it's all about those tiles. Individually collected from car boots sales over time, they don't match but they do work.

Apart from the usual kitcheny things, my mum uses this space to clean up her latest car boot sale finds. There's always something different every time I visit.

And in the dining room photos, images and curiosities that she's accumulated hang. Oh how I love it.

And then there's the dresser. Huge, wooden and jam packed with objects.

Oil lamps are a favourite of my mums. She has dozens, and yes sometimes she sits down in the evening and lights them. I've never really thought about them much, but there's something very cosy and comforting and perfect for these early dark nights that just seems to make them 'right'.

I mainly buy things , like oil lamps which are incomplete or broken and it’s the restoration of these items which I enjoy doing myself so much. I rarely buy things in working order , or don’t need cleaning or touching up, it’s much more fun that way and it gives new life to things which might otherwise have been lost for ever - and it’s much cheaper , of course!

Now what could be in here? Thankfully not old clotted cream...

Old pennies - Three Pence

Old pennies - Three Pence

My mum tells me she remembers putting these in Christmas puddings. Looking at these makes me never want to live in a world where physical money no longer exists.

I'll be heading back to see here in a couple of weeks and will be sure to share more of what I see!
