Some days you wake up and your head feels awash with a disquieting sense of apprehension, yesterday was one of those days for me. A combination of a lingering cold teamed with worry over Papasaurus’s health and Ozzy’s front tooth extraction next week had snowballed up, making me a little bundle of stressy worry. Even the glorious Spring sunshine  wasn’t lifting my spirits. But even seemingly challenging moods can be lifted by something unanticipated happening… [Read more...]

Slow Blogging and togetherness

Togetherness

Togetherness

Togetherness

When I heard the theme on The Gallery this week was ‘Together’ I knew just what I wanted to photograph to join in. Above you can see togetherness, forever. Love that lasted over decades in some cases despite only one person being left alive. I don’t find graves morbid, rather a celebration of a life lived, or in this case, lived together.

This afternoon I took Kitty and Ozzy along to this cemetery for a walk, we talked about death and what happens when we die, a topic that Kitty has been quizzical about since the passing of their Great Grandma. I must admit that taking a step back from blogging and being online so much has been really refreshing. And I know I have posted 5 times in the past 7 days, but now I have combined all my blogs into this one I have actually written around 12 blog posts less than I normally would this week and feel so much better for it … I feel like a different person, one I like a lot more. I’m spending more quality time with the kids, time when blogging doesn’t swim round in my mind – honestly, I feel that I am being a better mother.

And who would have thought it, taking a step back and chilling ones blogging pace happens to actually be a movement. Who knew right? [Read more...]

Dying flowers

There’s something beautiful about flowers isn’t there? Even ones that have past their prime. It’s a time of great change for me, I’ve been making decisions in the past week in a attempt to be a happier person. The start of a month seems like a positive time to implement change, especially when it brings sunshine with it. [Read more...]

Happy Birthday to Me

Birthday

Well this is it, thirty eight. I recall when I was turning thirty that I was most depressed about starting to be a thirty something, if anyone asked I was twenty nine right up until I hit thirty four.

But things are different now. Maybe it’s a quiet acceptance of life, a maturity that just naturally creeps up on you but I’m happy to be turning thirty eight today. It feels like it’s not about how old you are but how happy you are with your life, your family, your career, yourself. [Read more...]

BlogSummit Bristol 2013

On Friday I tootled off to the Tots100 BlogSummit in Bristol, after an evening spent with the completely brilliant Madame Guillotine ( my new girls crush in case you are interested). There was cool kids, curry, gin and there was much talking – many thanks for the Cleggs (cousins of Nick don’t you know?*) for a great evening and putting me up overnight.

Hosted at MShed in Brizzle, BlogSummit offered the chance to learn new things, catch up with familiar faces and meet some new ones. I arrived along with walking companions Aly from Plus 2.4 and a new face  from The Chocolate Log Blog  just in time for the morning coffee and natter session. One of my favourite things about BlogSummit is the laid back atmosphere – you don’t feel rushed and have quality chunks of time between sessions to talk to each other.
